BIOGRAPHY
Eric Barton is a 1996 graduate of the aviation program at Metropolitan State College of Denver. While attending Metro, Eric made an early start to his aviation career by working for Mesa Airlines/United Express at Denver Airport. Initially fueling airplanes, Eric was later promoted to the station operations center. During this time, Eric had the opportunity to take part in the transition of operations from the former Stapleton International Airport to the current Denver International Airport.
At the beginning of his senior year in 1995, Eric began working for FedEx as a package handler in Denver. After completing his degree, Eric was successful in obtaining a position with FedEx Flight Operations in the Crew Scheduling Department in March 1997. Over the next 13 years, Eric worked his way to a Senior Advisor position in the Crew Scheduling Department, where he was responsible for coordinating FedEx crew schedules worldwide.
During his tenure at FedEx, Eric has also been responsible for the scheduling of FedEx flight crews during the Civil Reserve Air Fleet activation in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as scheduling emergency relief charters in response to the tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004. In addition, Eric was largely responsible for scheduling FedEx operations during the European airspace closure that resulted from the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in Iceland in 2010.
In June 2010, Eric was promoted to the FedEx Global Operations Control Center, where he is qualified as both an Aircraft Dispatcher and Freight Recovery Specialist.
In addition to his responsibilities at FedEx, Eric also serves as the Director of Competition, as well as a National and Regional Chief Judge for the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA).
