BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in north suburban Chicago, Peter has maintained a keen interest in aviation since his first flight with his father at age six. Graduating with a BS in Aeronautics from Parks College of St. Louis University, Peter has also earned his wings and holds a private pilot license with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
When nearsightedness ruled out a professional flying career, Peter shifted his focus and went into airport management. Serving in a variety of management roles at Greater Peoria Airport Authority for twelve years, Peter returned to school to earn an MBA at Bradley University and subsequently went to work in private sector management and consulting roles before a new aviation related opportunity presented itself.
At the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Peter co-managed a project to create a new one-of-a-kind aviation exhibit, featuring a Boeing 727 cantilevered from a balcony with all of its control surfaces operating in conjunction with a multimedia show. Peter also served as Director of Operations for this world class science museum managing day-to-day functions collaborating on building expansion projects, exhibit design development, museum administration and policy development.
In 2001, Peter and his family moved to Seattle to join the management team at the Museum of Flight. Playing a key role in the Museum's dramatic expansion, including the construction of the new 90,000 square foot Personal Courage Wing, Peter also co-managed the development of the museum’s exciting new Aviation Learning Center and served several months as acting VP of Operations and COO.
In late 2007, Peter assumed the newly created position of Facility Director for the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour located near Boeing’s Everett Washington assembly plant.
In addition to his many years as a senior manager for not-for-profit institutions, Peter has served as President of Pi Chapter, Western Regional Governor and Treasurer of Alpha Eta Rho aviation fraternity, served as a Senior Judge at intercollegiate flying competitions and served on numerous non-profit and
corporate boards. Away from work, Peter devotes his time to his wife and two daughters, who fill his life with dance, soccer, remodeling, travel, boating and the great outdoors.
