BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Bend, OR, Tanner first experienced aviation at the age of 14 when his uncle took him up flying over the mountains of Eastern Oregon. Hooked from that point on, Tanner moved to Tulsa, OK to continue his flight training in the Fall of 2009.
Before receiving his Private Pilot Certificate in July 2010, Tanner joined the Spartan Black Cats NIFA Flight Team and pledged with the Sigma Beta Chi Chapter of Alpha Eta Rho. He received his Instrument Rating in August 2010, followed by his Commercial Single and Multi Engine Land Certificates in January and February 2011.
Tanner served as Secretary for both AHP and NIFA for two semesters, during which he attended a National and a Regional NIFA SAFECON. He then became President of the Sigma Beta Chi Chapter and Captain of the Spartan Black Cats for a semester and currently retains his position as President of Sigma Beta Chi.
Tanner maintains a full-time job working line service at Sparks Aviation Center located at Tulsa International Airport. Since he started working line service, he has been working two additional jobs flying Cessna 182's for an equipment rental company and skydivers on weekends.
On par for graduation from Spartan College of Aeronautics in Spring 2012, Tanner hopes to move to Alaska and fly in a bush operation in Barrow. He has always had a keen interest in bush flying, and a desire for the excitement the Alaskan wilderness has to offer. With a love of the outdoors, snow and mountains, he looks forward to this new flying experience in his life.
